Meet Farkhanda
Farkhanda is Muslim-Afghan American who resides with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area. Raised in California, with frequent visits to her home country of Afghanistan, Farkhanda discovered her love and passion for her native country. Her commitment to the Afghan community inspired her strive for education, driving her to earn a double Bachelor of Arts degree in US History and International Studies from California State University, East Bay. She earned her Master's in Political Science from San Francisco State University.
Farkhanda has worked in several civically engaged capacities, from Immigration Analyst, to poll officer for gubernatorial primary campaigns, as well as an advocate for local election propositions. As the Taliban took over Afghanistan in Summer 2021, Farkhanda organized rallies in support of her community and newcomers; mobilizing fellow Afghan-Americans to integrate newcomers as efficiently as possible.
The 5ive Pillars Orgnization's element of unity shapes Farkhanda's dedication to serving newcomers. She believes that unity is key towards aiding a bigger purpose that results in helping others to reach their potential, particularly during challenging times.
