TIME Magazine interviewed one our co-founders, Zuhal Bahaduri, in its coverage of Afghan refugee's challenges in finding affordable housing across the United States.
The article, 'American Poverty Is No One's Salvation' Afghan Evacuees in the U.S. struggle to find Housing, Sanya Mansoor covers how bureaucratic hurdles, a limited housing supply, and underfunded resettlement agencies have resulted in thousands of Afghan families living in hotels and leaving many on the brink of homelessness.
"The resources they are receiving (from the government) don’t really correlate with California’s cost of living," Bahaduri said in the article.
The 5ive Pillars Organization has worked to bring relief to Afghan families in hotels, especially in the San Jose area.
